CHILDREN'S TRAINING SESSIONS - SUITABLE FOR 4+(OWN BIKES) & 6+(BIKE HIRE)
What are the benefits of children riding trials?
Take a look at our blog here.
Children’s training runs March-September when the weather is more favourable so we recommend booking well in advance to avoid disappointment. Teenager sessions (age 12-16) are also available, see drop-down menu).
Use our handy level guide below to book onto the most suitable session.
Level 0: Absolute Beginners: Suitable for complete beginners with no prior experience. (Must be able to ride a push bike). This session will start from scratch with the basics of bike control as an introduction to trials riding.
Level 1: Absolute Beginners: Suitable for those who are just starting their trials journey – suited to riders who have had a go on a bike before and can ride but with assistance (eg, with someone holding onto the bike or the rider is sitting down). This session will start from scratch with the basics of bike control as an introduction to trials riding.
Level 2: Beginners: Suitable for those who are just starting their trials journey (riding the white route at trials), riders who have ridden a trials bike before unaided and must be able to stand up on the pegs.
Level 3: Intermediate: Suitable for riders who are competent with bike controls and can ride unaided with their feet on the pegs, able to confidently navigate the sections and those who are riding the yellow route at trials. This session will build on the basics and challenge the rider as their skill set develops.
Level 4: Advanced: Suitable for experienced riders who are competing and riding the red route at trials. This session will challenge the rider and they will need the experience, knowledge and confidence to position themselves effectively on the bike to navigate over, round or through challenges. This session is best taught as a private training session when the training can be tailored to the rider.
What to expect…
We typically run the children’s training as 2 hour sessions in small groups of 6 riders per instructor. On arrival, you’ll sign on and get kitted up before watching a short safety brief video. You’ll then meet your instructor and be assigned a bike for the day… then the fun begins! Head out into the fields to start your training – training starts off on flattish ground where your instructor will teach you the very basics of bike control and get you comfortable on the bike before gradually progressing onto ‘sections’. Sections are essentially obstacles which your instructor will mark out using coloured flags. As the day progresses, so will your skills! Each day is tailored dynamically to the ability of the group.
